Gunnar having fun in the boat building contest on the Noordam

On Hal cruises on the last sea day, they typically hold a boat building contest open to any interested parties young or old. Many take it pretty seriously and bring along supplies for making their sea crafts. The boats purpose is to hold as many soda cans as possible without capsizing or tipping over. Gunnar was game, and went around digging through the ships recycle bins to create his boat. He found water bottles and empty peanut tins and someone to borrow some tape. His only decoration was a small flag that he purchased in Bermuda so he named his vessel the Bermuda Triangle. Many of the other entries were pretty and looked like a typical boat, but Gunnar's held the most cans despite it's ugly appearance. In the end a prettier boat made with crown royal ornamintation by a bartender that held almost as many while it listed heavily got 1st and he got 2nd place. Gunnar was happy, because he enjoyed the entire process!
